Application Development and Your Business

We all know that we are living in the age of the smartphone. As more and more people continue to make the switch, there is a quickly growing segment of the population that accesses a majority of their internet browsing through their handset. In fact 78% of web users access from their phones.

But what does that mean for you and your business? The effects of this are many. Firstly, if somebody hears about you whether it is through print, radio, tv, or even through the web there is a 3 out of 4 chance that they are going to look you up on their phones. Application development is essential for a couple of reasons:

1. What works on a desktop does not translate to mobile

It might be tempting to think that there are no real differences between a desktop browsing experience and browsing through a smartphone. However they are valleys apart. What works on a 20" screen does not translate to a screen that is 1/8 that size. If you do not have an application developed for your website, then you are going to miss out on a lot of opportunity.

2. You can set yourself apart from your competition

If you come up with an innovative app that makes things easier for your customers to reach you, you will jump to the forefront of their minds whenever they are in the market for what you are selling. Just look at Canadian pizza company Pizza Pizza who met their performance metrics for 6 months within 6 weeks thanks to their app.

Before you design your app, make sure to ask yourself these questions:

  • What can I do to reach as many people as possible?
  • Would I be better served with a mobile app or a mobile website?
  • Will I be able to insure that this app will get the attention it needs to grow and be successful?
  • Which operating system should I launch my app on?

It can seem like a lot of basis to cover, that is why we are here to help you become the runaway success of the year.
