Usury & Usury Affiliate Programs
What is usury? Usury is defined as - charging a very high or unfair interest on a loan. Usury has been practiced in various parts of the world for thousands of years. It was wrong then and it’s wrong now.
Many of you know I work for the United States Air Force and ALL of you know military service will not make you financially wealthy. LOL. I know [usury] lenders target military members but when I was looking over one of my parked domains, http://www.mymil.com, and saw that all of the Google Adsense ads were for [usury] loans I was not pleased.
Nowadays an advance [usury] loan store is on almost every corner in the major cities of the US. In the online sector we are literally bombarded with them.
Short on rent? Get a [usury] loan!
Car broke down? Get a [usury] loan!
No money for groceries? Get a [usury] loan!
…And the list goes on and on.
Many people really find themselves in a bind and turn to these usury institutions. Sure, they get their money but afterwards their financial situation is usually worse off than it was. Why? Because now they’re paying 250%+ in interest on their short term loan. Ouch!
As affiliate marketers we owe it to our clients and customers to provide them with ethical products and services. Integrity first. Sure, you can make a great deal of money promoting usury affiliate programs but who are you really helping?
Take a quick look at your affiliate marketing portfolio. Are you promoting usury affiliate programs?
If you find yourself in need of a small loan there are community banks, credit unions and small loan companies that compete for consumer business by meeting their needs without making them pay exorbitant fees and interest rates. Many of these will work with you if you have far less than perfect credit. These banks will make short-term loans at comparatively low interest rates, and they require little more paperwork than the [usury] lenders to qualify the consumer for the loan. These lenders may prove to be far more affordable for the consumer when it comes to paying back the loan.
Yes, I used [usury] often so those other Adsense ads don’t show up. God bless you! =)
Some great references:
He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved. (Psalm 15:5)
One who increases his possessions by usury and extortion Gathers it for him who will pity the poor. (Proverbs 28:8)
If he has exacted usury Or taken increase — Shall he then live? He shall not live! If he has done any of these abominations, He shall surely die; His blood shall be upon him. (Ezekiel 18:13)
