The Google Chrome Web Browser and the Demise of Operating Systems

So Google Chrome has burst onto the scene directly threatening Microsoft and not to mention my beloved FireFox. Sure, webmasters have already found exploits and java security holes in Chrome but that is to be expected.

So when the dust settles and the bugs are worked out what will Microsoft do?  They’ve sat on their laurels long enough without major progressive improvements to Internet Explorer, so this move by Google shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

From a technical perspective, Firefox can definitely keep up. Soon Firefox will have a much faster JavaScript engine, for example. But with Google’s visibility Chrome will easily grow a huge user base. They’re already advertising it on AdWords.
