Google’s New 970×90 Adsense Ad Size

I’ll keep this brief.  About four days ago Google released yet another new ad size.  It’s a MONSTROUS 970×90 leaderboard ad.  Currently, there are very few advertisers who have updated their ad sizes so Google is filling in the slack space with 728×90 ads.  However, I did get one gratuitous screenshot of how Google’s New 970×90 Adsense ad will look when displaying contextual ads (no banners yet).  Take a peek below.

*Note: I am currently serving a one year tour in South Korea with the USAF so Google is serving up local ads that clearly are not in sync with the theme of Top-Affiliate.com. However, I think you all get the point on how Google’s New 970×90 Adsense ad will look on your websites.

When Google released their 300×600 ad unit late last year it was met with mixed reviews.  Some thought it was too big and others were not pleased with how much whitespace it displayed when showing one advertiser.  As for me, I love it.  When properly deployed (usually in a blog sidebar) I’ve seen that ad increase my CTR substantially.  That’s worth experimenting with.

The point is you’ll never know what the perfect balance is for your web real estate until you test, test, test…and test some more.  Now go give Google’s New 970×90 Adsense ad size a test drive for yourself!
