The answer is Article Marketing. And if you haven't heard of it, or tried it yet, you're missing one of the most effective and inexpensive marketing strategies available on the net.
If you can write, or find someone to write for you or edit your work, you can use Article Marketing to dramatically increase your exposure on the web. And you'll immediately start generating all kinds of links to your web site, which will drive qualified traffic to you 24/7.

And the best part is, you can write about ANYTHING. What do you know a lot about? What is your area of expertise? What topic would your prospects love to learn more about? What have you already written about for your web site or newsletter?

Try this exercise to generate 3 articles to start with:

(1) Identify 3 topics you know a lot about

(2) Come up with 5 tips for each topic

You've just outlined three articles you can use to jumpstart your article marketing efforts!

Once you have written these articles there are many places you can post them for free. These are sites visited by web site and newsletter publishers looking for content.

They pick up your articles and include them in their newsletter or on their web site. They include your information and web site address with the article, so everyone knows you wrote it and where they can get more information like the article they just finished reading.

If you are currently writing articles to post on your web site, or to publish in your newsletter or ezine, you can re-use these articles to easily get started with article marketing and get your name out all across the web.

Suddenly you become an expert because your articles and advice start showing up all over the place. Search on "10stepmarketing" or "Debbie LaChusa" and you'll see what I mean. I've accomplished this in a matter of weeks, with an initial posting of only seven articles. I've continued to post articles and you can bet I'll keep on doing it.

You may even get feedback from readers like I have. Here's one I got that totally made my day:

"Just finished reading your article. ITS GREAT! I'll be implementing all of your ideas ASAP."

How awesome is that?! It tells me my articles are getting out there, I am getting the word out about my business and I'm helping more small business owners to be successful.

And just think, it could be doing be doing the same for you. Getting your business name out there, positioning you as an expert in your field, and sharing your knowledge and expertise with your potential clients.

For a list of over 40 sites where you can post your articles for free, visit http://www.10stepmarketing.com/resources_promo_nologin.htm

I invite you to give Article Marketing a try. Write and post a few articles and see what happens. You may just triple your web site traffic like I did!

My wife provided most of the direction, but I asked the head guy (and owner of the company) to pay attention to a few details for me.

The whole experience reminded me of how critically important it is to pay attention to customer requests when dealing with eBay sales. On the Web (and with email) it's easy to lose contact with customers and forget to address their concerns.

Make sure you don't fall into this trap. You may not see the results directly, but your customers will become upset and you'll eventually lose business - like my painter has. Not only did he lose business, he lost a valuable referral source.

He started to lose me when he failed to record my suggestions and concerns. I didn't get into interior design much, choosing between mauve and tope, but I did have some input as far as the whole project goes.

I wanted them to make sure they cleaned up the "misses" on the outside, where some black trim paint accidentally hit the white house paint. I needed them to unstick some of the windows and put all the screens back, as well.

When the project started wrapping up, it was obvious that the lead was ignoring some of my requests -- namely the screens and window unsticking. I loved the work, but I wasn't so hot on their finishing skills.

From a customer service perspective, the timing couldn't have been worse. Just when the painters wanted to consider it a job well done, I was having second thoughts about their competence.

That sinking feeling should not have come at the end of the project. The lead should have been going out with a celebration rather than with some gripes. He should have lead me around, showed me how great everything looks, showed me the extra work he'd thrown in, and gone down my list of requests one by one, demonstrating that he met my needs and respects my wishes.

If he performed these "finalizing" customer service/marketing steps, he'd have my 100% recommendation. I'd rave about him to friends, pass out his business cards and even write up a testimonial for him. I'd offer to help him out with his advertising materials, in fact. We'll certainly have more painting jobs in the future, and I'd like to stay on good terms with him.

On eBay, the same steps need to be followed in order to build business and collect loyal customers that rave about you. You need to send customers follow-up emails that confirm what they bought, what kind of deal you're giving them (on shipping, bonuses, etc.), and how you appreciate their business and would welcome any questions they may have. You need to offer them targeted cross-sell and up-sell items as they bid and shop. And, you need to quickly address their concerns as they come up. All this attention and service ensures that your customers refer you to others, leave positive feedback, and return to do more business with you.

And it could be just the smallest of issues that will cause them to think twice about purchasing from your auction. As explained in my book "eBay Marketing Wholesale SourcePak" you must remove these obstacles from your auction sales page so your visitors will become bidders. Below you'll find some obstacles and how you can solve them on your auction page.

Is This Seller Trustworthy?
This is a question that all your serious auction visitors will ask themselves. As they do not know you they are going to want to check you out. But how will they do this? Well, the first thing they would look for is your feedback rating. Feedback is a way eBay allows buyers and sellers to rate their experiences with each other. If you have a stellar feedback rating your visitor will feel you are trustworthy. Your goal should be to increase your auction feedback and keep it positive.

Another way a visitor might check to see if you are trustworthy is to click over to your about "Me Page". The about "Me Page" is a page you can create in your eBay account. It allows you to give your potential bidders some background information about you and your business. You can also include your feedback and other listed auctions on this page as well. This is where you have a chance to tell your potential bidder about yourself and your business, why he/she should buy from you. I would highly recommend you take advantage of this and create an about "Me Page" in your eBay account.

Also people may have questions regarding your auction. So you could get an email asking about your product or service. You should welcome this opportunity as a way to show your potential bidder you are a real person. Take this time to show your integrity, honesty, credibility, and expertise in your product or service. Include on your auction page an email link and tell your visitors that any inquires are welcome.

What About A Guarantee?
You always need some sort of guarantee for your product or service. Again it will help to show your visitor you are a trustworthy business person. Remember that your buyer assumes most of the risk here. He/she is buying from someone that they have never met, a product that they have only seen in a photo, and they must pay for that product in advance of receiving it. A guarantee that is appropriate for your product or service will help your visitor become a bidder.

How Do I Pay?
The more options you have for payment the more visitors will become bidders. There are many means of payment. The normal being PayPal. PayPal is an eBay company so having a PayPal payment button on your auction is an easy and free option to include on your auction sales page. But besides PayPal you may want to consider excepting other payment options as well..

What About Delivery?
Always fully disclose how your product or service is delivered and your delivery charge. Whether you are sending it via the postal service or a courier your bidder will want to know how he/she should expect to receive the purchase and what the cost will be. You can usually approximate deliver time and cost based on information you obtain from your local post office or courier.

If you answer the above questions on your auction page you will be building customer trust and he/she is more likely to become a bidder. And more bidders’ means more profits for you!

And, if you’re a freelancer—you ARE the product—so you’ll ultimately need self-promotion. Newsletters can not only inform your customers of future events, discounts, and services, but can serve as a helpful source of information for you to analyze the growth and success of your business.
Newsletters can be published and distributed according to individual business needs (weekly, bimonthly, quarterly, and annually, etc.). Printing costs can be kept to a minimum with black & white printing; or if your budget is a bit more expendable, capture your reader’s attention with a vibrant-colored logo, text and graphics. Whether you use b&w or color printing, adding a newsletter into your budget keeps and attracts new clients! Let’s see the different types of newsletters and discover which best suits your needs. Newsletters can range from In the Office (ITO) Newsletters to Out of the Office (OOTO) Newsletters. More importantly, each one serves its own separate purpose.
Inter-Office (ITO) Newsletters. ITO Newsletters may be somewhat casual generated simply for the purpose of notifying those with whom you work. Educate employees by placing this type of newsletter in their office mailbox or on their desk.
·	New Procedures, Policies and Guidelines. Rules and regulations change within a company without a moment’s notice. Give employees no excuse for claiming the e-mail was never received regarding the new methods in which the office may be run. Eliminate constant runs to Human Resources.
·	Promotions, Employment Announcements. Assist employees in celebrating their joy by introducing the new employees, the latest promotions, the latest job openings and even the continued growth of the company.
·	Miscellaneous (Birth Announcements, Retirement Parties, etc.). Allow your employees to be a part of the family and feel at-home while in the office by listing personal, yet instructive, data regarding their lives. Better still, inform the employees of the holiday parties.
Out of the Office (OOTO) Newsletters. OOTO Newsletters are a bit more formal. Here’s your chance to win, gain and retain customers. Think of this as a promotional tool sent out via postal mail or distributed face-to-face.
·	Press Releases. Here, you can inform people of your new (or already established) business and why your services are so innovative.
·	Latest Discounts. Often businesses will offer discounts or coupons to be redeemed during the holiday season or perhaps you want to offer a referral discount to those who recommend your services. If this is the case, a newsletter is the place to inform the customers of the price cut.
·	Latest Services. During the past few months you’ve built-up your business to the point where you’re comfortable adding new services. Here’s the chance to explain how these services can best assist their needs, and how this addition is merely a fulfillment of the customers’ requests.
·	Ingenious tips. Why else should people use your services? Well, because you’re always filled with wonderful tips regarding your products and services. Share some of your wonderful ideas with customers to allow them to feel even more confident in your services. Keep them coming by offering an insider’s tip in each issue.
Keep the number of pages to a minimum. After all, this is a newsletter, not a magazine or newspaper. Newsletters are best if designed to be read in one sitting.

We cook there, eat there (hopefully as a family), entertain there, chat at the table, do homework, and any number of other family-related things. A disorganized kitchen discourages us from doing the above; we don’t want to cook and eating will likely then take place in front of the TV. We don’t want to entertain others or sit and chat because the clutter distracts us and makes us feel ashamed of not keeping things in better order. So let’s get to it!

Please understand that this room CANNOT be done in one day or in one chunk of time. I’m willing to bet it took more than one day for your kitchen to look the way it does—so it will take more than one day to un-do it. Be patient and attack these different tasks in small chunks of time—small steps! You’ll find that as each one is done that you’ll be motivated to do another and another. And then when it’s all done, you’ll not want to mess it up, and so be motivated to keep it organized! Oh happy day!

1) Unload your dishwasher. If your dishwasher is full of clean dishes and not put away, you won’t have a place to put your dirty dishes as you clean up. If you don’t have a dishwasher, take a look at your sink. If you’ve got clean dishes in your dish rack, put them away now. Then move your dish rack to the counter and put an empty dishpan under the sink. You’ll see why as we keep going.

2) Take a look at your countertops. Are they piled high with papers, dishes (dirty), and appliances (some you haven’t used in weeks or months)? Are they stained (underneath the stuff on them)? Let’s clear off one countertop at a time. Pick your smallest one and clear everything off. Put it on a table or other surface where you can go through the things. Put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher (or dishpan under your sink), go through the papers (junk mail = trash can, bills go to the study, etc.). Put the other miscellaneous things you’ve found in separate piles to be schlepped to the appropriate rooms where they belong. Then look at the naked countertop. Take a cleaner of your choice (I love the Lysol disinfecting wipes, but you could use a spray cleaner, a bleach cleaner, or simple window cleaner) and a rag and start wiping from back to front. Sweep the crumbs in to the garbage can. Now put only the things which are *necessary* back on the counter. That means no excess paperwork, no hair bows, etc. If you need space for a coffee maker or other small appliance, you now have it!

3) Move to the next counter and repeat the same steps as above.

In Part Two of Organizing Your Kitchen, we’ll take a look at the next round of steps to create a kitchen you’re proud of!

And, they repeat these mistakes over and over again. As indicated in my book "eBay Marketing Wholesale SourcePak" with a little common sense these mistakes are completely preventable. So to prevent you from making these very same mistakes I have put together the Top Ten Tips For Auction Success.

10. Shipping
Always state what your shipping price will be. And, Do Not tries to rip off your buyers by inflating the shipping price to increase your profit. Believe it or not, people do have a fair idea of what shipping costs should be. If they feel you are inflating your shipping price they will not bid on your item and may not look at any of your other auctions either from fear of being ripped off.

9. Customer Support
You must respond to all emails regarding your auctions. Yes, responding to emails is time consuming. But, if you don't, that potential bidder will look else ware for the product and you will have lost yourself a customer.

8. Reserve Price
Do your research on the price for your item. If you must use a reserve price keep it real. If you over price your item you will not get as many bids. And, while all good marketers know there is a time and place for the Reserve Auction, you may actually get more bids using no reserve pricing at all. Do your research to help you make this decision.

7. Item Condition
You must let bidders know what condition your item is in. Is it new and in its packaging, or used but like new condition. Does it have any imperfections they should be made aware of.. Potential bidders will want to know what condition your item is in before making any bids.

6. Terms
This could come under the heading Customer Service. If you have terms on your auction page that read something like this "Not Responsible For Item Once Shipped" or "Item Sold As Is" you will lessen the number of bidders for that auction. Be a responsible eBayer, have insurance on the item that your buyer can purchase. And be sure to have some sort of guarantee on your products.

5. Feedback
One of the most important parts of your eBay Business. Feedback is a method eBay uses to allow buyers and sellers to record their experiences with each other. Then, others can check out the feedback of any eBayer they wish to deal with, to see if there has been any negative comments left. Therefore, it is extremely important to keep your feedback rating positive.

4. Auction Start/Close Time
You must plan your auction start/close time around the bidders you wish to attract to your auction. If the product you are selling appeals to the working woman, the best time to start/end your auction would be in the evening or on the weekend. Always create a profile on your product and what group of the population you are selling to.

3. Item Description
Not enough information or too much rambling of information will discourage people from bidding. So too will too many typos. Your item description must be clean and concise. Succinctly provide all the information required to describe the item sufficiently and create buyer interest.

2. Image
You need to use an image on your auction page. Remember a picture is worth a 1000 words! Potential bidders will want to see what the item looks like before they make a bid. With digital cameras, being so affordable these days adding an image to your auction page is easier than ever. But, make sure the image is clear and well lit to show its detail or any imperfections it may have. Also, keep the image at a reasonable pixel size so your auction page doesn't take too long to load.

1. Headlines
This is the most important issue for getting more bidders to your auction page. You must include words that people will search on eBay. And, you must make your headline enticing, so potential bidders will click it. If you are selling an antique make-up table a headline saying old vanity table would not pull in a lot of bidders. But, if you said something like "Vintage Vanity Table - Mint Condition - Collector’s Item" not only would you get more potential bidders to view your auction, you would also be using words people would search eBay for. Your auction title would appear in searches for Vintage, Vanity Tables, and Collectors Items. Therefore, allowing even more potential bidders to see your headline.

Your business qualifies for small business health insurance if you have anywhere between two and fifty employees in it. If you are self employed then you’ll want to look into getting self employed health insurance.

There are many benefits to getting small business health insurance. A small business health insurance plan will help spread the financial risk around to everyone and not just yourself. As this is the case, this generally will bring lower premiums and more extensive coverage. Along with this, the health insurance provides medical care for you and all other employees as well.

With a small business health insurance people often get group insurance. This too has its advantages on several different aspects. All contributions from the employers are 100% tax
deductible, and you’ll save on payroll taxes as well. Small businesses will be eligible for group insurance just as long as you have two or more full time employees working.

When setting up a group insurance plan for your small business, all members will be set up with a coverage plan with rates calculated using the group and individuals. After that it is up to the separate employees themselves if they wish to add riders and additional coverage to satisfy their needs. Keep in mind that not all employees in the small business have to join the group plan. Just as long as there are no fewer than two employees in the business that have the group insurance plan, then you will be fine.

The cost of the group insurance plan varies based on several different characteristics. Some of these include age, health status, business and/or residential location and so on. Like everything in this world it’s not going to be cheap, but it will be cheaper than having a bunch of separate health insurance plans.

Most health plans are going to require employees to pay at least half of the premium cost for covered employees. Some employees will offer to pay 100% of the cost, white now there is a new health plan giving employees the option to pay as little as 25% of the cost. Just know that typically most types of coverage will cost employees a minimum of $1,600-$2,500 per year per
employee. By clicking on the link below you can begin getting quotes for your small business health insurance.

Just remember that many times medical services are needed unexpectedly. If you or other employees do not have health insurance this could be a devastating blow to the wallet. The cost of a hospital visit, depending on the circumstance, will many times be much higher than the cost of health insurance. You want to be able to live life knowing that you’re insured just in case the unexpected happens. Nothing hurts to at least look at some quotes and talk it over with other employees, but you have the power to make the decision.

Time and time again we’ve seen these salespeople hunt like hounds trying to get their next sale, the next big commission. “Sell at all costs!” “Don’t let them say no!”

No wonder we’re afraid of selling. We don’t want to hunt people down, we don’t want to take their money without consent, and we don’t want to sell them something they don’t
need.

You Don’t Have to Do That!

Those salespeople have it all wrong. You don’t have to pressure anyone to get a sale. In fact, I’ll go as far as to say that you don’t even want those people who succumb easily to sales pressure. You want these people to know what they’re getting, up front, and have no remorse over the buying process.

The informed consumer is the repeat consumer.

I’ll give you an example: Several years ago, I was in communications with a business person who had some very specific needs. (And very specific questions.) Over the course of several months we communicated via email and telephone several times a week. We weren’t even talking about costs – we were talking about the schematics of working with a virtual business. “How would we do x virtually?” “Can Y be virtual, or would there have to be some physical correspondence involved?” “Is Z possible in a virtual situation, and if so, how does it work?”

This gentleman was really doing his homework. And I really didn’t mind. We were building a great rapport, he was generating referrals for my business, and he was learning a great deal about the virtual assistance industry. All his questions were valid – I had no problem answering a question that would have taken him too much time to find the answer on his own.

After about six months of correspondence, he finally signed a contract with me. We agreed upon a five-year term (almost unheard of within the VA industry), during which time he would continue to generate referrals for my business. He’s still working with me to this day, seven years later.

He was informed and comfortable in his decision – and this made all the difference.

So the moral of the story is this – shut up, listen, and answer your consumers’ questions.

There are only three steps to selling – none of which have anything to do with a pushing anyone into buying.

In order to sell, you have to connect!

Primarily, you have to connect with a person - you want to be talking with someone not at them. Build rapport. Ask them about their business, their situation, and listen whole-heartedly. You need to figure out where they are in their situation, and use this Q&A time to help you formulate responses to cater to their needs. Don’t forget to take notes!

Now talk a little about their expectations of the relationship. If you’re a coach, for example, ask them how they expect coaching to help them within the next three months. Ask them how they expect the coaching relationship to work. Ask lots of ‘why’ questions – they’ll help you more later. (“Why do you feel you need a coach?” “Why do you want to achieve x?”)

After you’ve talked about their expectations, tell them the reality of your business. Tell them specific outcomes you can help them achieve, and present case studies if possible. In all matters, be honest. Don’t over-hype anything… be straight and they’ll appreciate you for it.

Now you can persuade

Now is your turn to talk. Talk about their problems. Take their expectations and their situation and tell them their problems in your own words. If you understand their situation, they will be able to tell. Don’t fake concern or empathy – but do be understanding of their needs. Speak of their problems as if they asked you a ‘why’ question – “You need x, y, & z because you need a & b to function appropriately for outcome N”.

Also talk about their outcomes in your own words “If I understand, you need x, y, & z; and you want ABC to happen because of it, correct?” The more your relay your competence of their situation, the more comfortable they’ll be with you. Approach this as you would approach an elementary school student with a difficult math question – rephrase so you both understand, and make sure you have ALL the elements. Without all the elements, you can’t fully understand their needs.

Once you’re comfortable with their needs and desired outcomes, present your solution. DO NOT use a canned ‘solution statement’, you truly need to cater all your
responses to their specific needs. Speak of their future, your future, and how they intertwine. You want this to be seen as a group effort – not just a one-sided deal. You can’t possibly solve all their problems, but you are always on their side. Let them know your vested interest, and they’ll appreciate it.

Let’s not close – let’s agree

Now that you’ve talked with them about their needs, how you can help, and any other items that need discussion, you should be ready to come to an agreement. You should both agree by now that their needs and your solution are a good fit. If you don’t feel you’re a good fit, move on.

Make them an offer. Tell them how you intend on helping them, how you plan to work together, and how long you plan to work together. DO NOT discuss money until this point. (If the question arises beforehand, don’t evade the question, but don’t give them a precise estimate. I’ve always used the phrase “We need to cover some more information before I can give you a solid quote because pricing is based on individual needs”. Give a ballpark estimate if necessary.) Go over your pricing & procedures, and offer to send them a formal proposal & contract. You’re done!

As you can see, selling isn’t what you think it is. No one wants to talk to a pushy salesperson, and now you have the tools to be an effective salesperson. Just remember to prepare, relax, shut up and sell!

Predatory salespeople are everywhere –from the department stores to car sales. Some of those mistakes cost me money. Others caused me heartache, and a few almost completely destroyed my faith that an ordinary person like me could dream of extraordinary things.

But I have also made a handful of good decisions, and at the top of that list is my decision to become a member of the IAHBE. The IAHBE (http://www.iahbe.org) stands for International Association of Home Business Entrepreneurs. In one sentence, it is simply "An online Home Business University with an extensive Learning Center packed with home business information, reports, articles, seminars and other content put under one roof."

Being an exclusive paid membership resource, I was very half-hearted at first at the thought of spending a good $29 for something as intangible as "information". As I once asked myself, many people now ask me this question: "Can't I get this information for FREE on the Internet? So why do I need to pay for it?"

I have to admit that this is a valid question. And I have to agree that you CAN find similar (but not exact) information for free, scattered around the Internet. So why choose the IAHBE? How can it help you?

Let me tell you my story, from the point of view of an entrepreneur living in Malaysia, while trying to build a global business on the Internet. This is how it changed my life...

1) Your Words are the Holy Truth

Not too long ago, I used to think that my ex-MLM upline leader had my best interests at heart. I thought that the meetings I went for and the methods they preached were the only way to build and market a home based business.

That couldn't be any further from the truth. For example, my upline thought me these lessons about prospecting:

a) Go door-to-door and ask people to come to the Opportunity Meeting...
b) NEVER mention that it is a "business opportunity meeting"...
c) Personally go to the prospect's home and bring them to the opportunity meeting...
d) Make a surprise visit to your prospect's home and show them the compensation plan...
e) Convince the prospect to join or buy the products

I could go on and on, but surely you get the point. In the IAHBE, I came across an article by Tom “Big Al” Schreiter about prospecting, and it changed my life forever. Here's what the article said:

"Professionals sort, amateurs convince"

I wish words could express how that simple sentence changed my idea of prospecting forever...

The point is this: You can never rely on a single source of information. The IAHBE has so many good and qualified authors, every one of them a success in their own rights. Finally, I found a place where I can get so much high quality information, compare them, and decide for myself which ideas I want to follow.

If you’ve decided to climb the home business ladder to success, and you want to REALLY make sure that it’s not leaning against the wrong wall, you’ll need guidance from people who have "been there and done that" before you start your journey.

2) Running Around in Circles

Before I joined the IAHBE, I was scouting around the Internet for free home business tips and ideas. I found many, but the problem was that I now had to ask myself:

- Which Internet "guru" you should I listen to?
- What should I invest in?
- Which resources will help me achieve profitability and which ones won't?
- What steps should I take to get where I want without busting my budget?

As I sat around cracking my head with these questions, I realized another undeniable factor to home business success, TIME! The fact is that there are only so many hours in a day, and why was I wasting time trying to wade through the sea of information called the Internet?

Information on the Internet, I learned, can never be fully trusted, especially if it's FREE. There are so many "Fake Experts" out there pitching ideas they have not tried themselves, which can lead the new guy astray.

With the IAHBE on the other hand, I can be assured that I am getting only top quality information. All writers are screened and evaluated before their material is accepted by the IAHBE. You don't get the fake ones here, and that's a real relief.

3) Keeping My Home Business Costs under Control

As a budding home business entrepreneur, my survival depended on how well I controlled my meager finances and small capital. And yet, every business owner knows the costs associated when starting your business. For example, I had to spend on:

a) My personal growth - books, eBooks, reports
b) Advertising - ezine ads, PPC, leads and print media ads
c) Operations - PC software, productivity tools

I had, at that time, spent close to $3000 just getting started. Most that was spent on useless website traffic schemes, so called "targeted" home business leads, books, software and PPC advertising. But in my second month as a member of the IAHBE, I realized that I actually have hundreds of unused coupons, discounts and special offers for the same products and services that I paid the full price for elsewhere. How can they do this?

It's a question of simple economics. What you cannot achieve as an individual, you can easily achieve as a group. Since the IAHBE has thousands of members, they can easily negotiate for special bulk discounts, free trials, and even free gifts from various suppliers, manufacturers and retailers.

4) A Simple Choice I had to Make

Many of my down line affiliates ask; is the IAHBE suitable for me? To this question I always ask them back:

"Do you want to spend time finding information, or do you want to spend time building a business?"

The reason is this; if you're content in running around chasing information, instead of actually building a business, you don't need the IAHBE. If you want to learn only from truly successful people, and get the information delivered to your doorstep, there is no smarter choice. After all, it only costs you around a dollar a day. Heck, even useless 'lifestyle' magazines cost more :)

5) The Journey Makes a Full Circle

The only apparent weakness of the IAHBE was that it did not provide information specific to Malaysia, where I live and run my Internet business. Sure, the articles and tips were great, but when I needed information that applies to me as a Malaysian, I dreaded the thought of going back to the world of offline information retrieval.

In an email, I told them that they should be more "International" as their name suggests. To my honest surprise, three months down the road, they did indeed become truly "International". And they were looking for writers to complement their search for information on Asia, especially in home business hotspots like India, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Japan and the Philippines.

Good things happen to those who persist. Not only did I get what I want, I was also appointed as a writer for topics related to Asia. Now I had to give back, and I could not be happier doing so.

So even if you are based in far corners of Asia, the International Association of Home Business Entrepreneurs could be the smartest choice you make this year to help you improve as an entrepreneur, as a marketer, and as a human being.

Take it form a guy who learned the hard way. Take it from a guy who is a member, writer and 100% believer in the IAHBE, and how it can change your life. You can get more info at http://www.home-business-association.com/IAHBE/

After 4-5 years of outsourcing, downsizing and complete company shutdowns the employees in Information Technology finally have a choice again. Many IT employees were holding on to existing jobs to wait out the drought and the storm out there. Others were not so lucky and had to find a new job - either in the same field or in a different career path. In most cases an employee ended up with less money and a smaller benefits package. Employers had the choice and could push their requirements and options knowing that the employees had not much choice.

But now things are changing again and if an employer was using the low salary with no benefits approach for the last few years he better is prepared for the backfire. Employees read the same publications and the same statistics as the employers does. The IT employees know everything about outsourcing, right sourcing or best sourcing or whatever acronym employers came up with to disguise the fact that work can eventually be done for less by someone else. Employees also know when the market starts picking up again and an employer turning a blind eye to that fact can shoot himself in the foot this way.

So, what can employers do to retain talented people when the market picks up again? In some cases there is nothing they can do. If the employer added insult to injury (meaning: treating the employees like slaves during the market downturn) the employees will leave as soon as a better opportunity comes their way - especially if the opportunity is provided by a company that treats employees with respect and offers a fair salary. If the losing employer thinks they can fix the problem by now offering a little more money they are in for a surprise. If you kick a dog into the guts for 5 years he will still shy back even if you are mow offering a cookie. The money saved by offering no benefits and low salaries will now have to be spend on hiring a new employee for a higher market value (remember: the market picked up already) and the loss of productivity for a while until the new employee is properly trained cuts into the margins. It would have been cheaper and better to avoid low-balling right from the beginning.

Companies that value their employees usually have fewer problems retaining the talent. They even get new employees referred by existing ones which often proves to be a good choice when hiring new talent. Small treats during hard times can pay off easily. If an employer explains that overall money is tight due to market conditions, but then shows appreciation when the market picks up gains much more respect than somebody trying to squeeze employees to the last drop. Free pizza lunches every once in a while or a gift certificate for Best Buy or the movie theatre help in keeping morale high and people motivated during hard market conditions, too.

And it's easy to understand why. From a buyers perspective when you browse eBay you can find just about anything you might be looking for. From collectable to clothing, from automobiles to the odd and weird. It's listed for auction on eBay. And from a sellers point of view if you have something that is worth selling, you are bound to find a buyer for it at eBay.

As explained in my book "eBay Marketing Wholesale SourcePak" eBay is a community of members who can buy/sell items locally, nationally and internationally. And while eBay has over 100 million members there are rarely any real problems between buyers and sellers. I believe much of this can be attributed to the eBay feedback. Feedback is where buyers and sellers can leave comments on their experience with each other. Whether it was a good or a bad transaction, you can read about it in the feedback. Now I won't lead you to believe there are no problems at all, because that would not be right. But all in all things run very smoothly.

Harris Poll did a survey regarding online auctions that I found quite interesting.
43% of participants said that they bid at online auctions looking for bargains, 23% said they are looking for hard-to-find items and 21% were looking for collectables.

When it came to how confident buyers are at receiving their purchases, 54% were confident and 40% were very confident they would have no problems receiving their product. This compared to only 1% who was not confident.

51% of those surveyed said they always, check feedback before buying from a seller and 36% said they usually do. Only 3% said they never check. I've got to believe that this 3% are newbie’s.

A whopping 83% of participants said they had bid and purchased items. With 51% saying the average value of the product bought was up to $50.00. 24% said the value was $51. - $100. And 21% said $101. - $500.

66% paid for their items by personal check, cashier check or money order to the seller. While 44% paid by credit card using the third party payment service listed on the auction. And 59% said they had never experienced a problem with their purchases.

Considering eBay recently reported $14.87 billion in annual merchandise sales, there is generally very little problems between buyers and sellers. That is one of the reasons eBay makes such a great Home Based Business.

Or are you considering
expanding your current business and require a bank loan or
investment from outsiders?

If you are going to look for an investment of capital it is quite
likely that you will be required to have a business plan. If you
are starting a business, despite the work involved, a business
plan can prepare you for the obstacles ahead and help ensure your
success.

A business plan is something that many small businesses fail to
create; however, many business owners are adamant that having a
written business plan is one of the keys to their present
success. Creating a business plan forces you to contemplate
possible obstacles to your business and prepares you to find
solutions that will help you to overcome them.

To find investors or get a bank loan, they will want to see that
you have the experience or resources to run the business. They
will want to see your projected income as well as your suggested
repayment plan already laid out. Taking the time to do this is
not only important for them, but it gives you a measuring tool to
verify if your business is growing properly. You can gage your
success on how close to the plan your business has actually
performed. Perhaps you'll do worse, or perhaps you'll do better,
either way it helps you determine how well your business is
getting on.

If you have never seen a business plan before you may be
concerned that is too difficult a proposition for you to
manage on your own.

While there are services available where you can hire someone to
write a business plan for you, depending on your needs it may be
wise to familiarize yourself with a business plan's layout. This
will not only help you to provide the necessary information, but
may encourage you to try your own hand at it.

There's a free tool at www.bdc.ca which will assist you in
creating a business plan. Some of the topics you will be required
to explain are your Market, Customer, Competition, Marketing
Plan, and Research & Development along with financial forecasts. You
may consider hiring someone to help you with your financial
sheets after completing the written part of the Business Plan.

Your Business Plan will become your guide and silent business
partner - indicating where you need to improve and helping you
stay one step ahead of your competition. Make it a priority to
have this crucial road map for your business.
